Regarding the criteria of Administrators.

Post by Tom AA Hawk on Mon Aug 06, 2012 4:03 pm

Note:
I am here under, expressing my own views and concerns and I fell they must be address promptly. My objective is not to hurt nobody’s feeling but I will target some of you. I am now adding fireworks to the elections!

The vote of a new administrator is very important because that person will be responsible for the well-being of the forum and its future growth. He will make sure that enough new relevant topics are being created each week and that existing ones are carefully attended to, good topics flow is crucial for the form.

The administrator must be able to understand the needs and frustrations of its community; as a good doctor is able to read the pulse of its patients to discern critical problems in order to solve them. Furthermore, if situation present it's self were a patient is getting flustered and becomes insulting, the doctor should be able to control and resolve the matter promptly, and this without penalizing or turning the matter in a personal vendetta on the next patients visits. Same apply to a good administrator; we have to make sure that he as the strength of taking nothing personal, it’s part of the job.

I went ahead and look up the stats of our pre-nominated candidates in the list and came up with this:

Fire 152 topics in 2year and half = 1.2 topic/week or 0.18 topic/day
Cesar 81 topics in 2 years = 0.84 topic/week or 0.09 topic/day
Stealtho 43 topics in 2 years = 0.44 topic/week or 0.07 topic/day

*These stats can be seen in the "Viewing profile" section by anyone.

I strongly believe that all administrators should at minimum, post 3 good topics a week. Looking at the stats it is clear that none of them do. I therefore need to ask you these questions, in order to be able to make a fair assessment of your capabilities.

SMALL QUESTIONNAIRE

1 Which would you do?
A. Keep the forum at around 30 active members or so?
B. Get back at a 100+ members?
What do you think KCA wants?

2 What would be the correctives measures that you would bring to make this forum work again forum again?

3 If you have chosen 1B, how are you planning to bring and keep new members in, and why do you think it would work?

4 Tell us why do you think that we lost over a hundred’s members, what went wrong, and what mistakes were being made?

5 If you had to appoint only one leader to the clan, who do you think would be the best suitable candidate for the position and why? (This question is not to know if you think a group is better to lead than just one person, it is meant to show your capacity in judging characters.)

Sorry for the hard questions, I think that any good leaders can address those. Isn’t after all what administrators are supposed to do days in days out?

In order for this vote to be as fair as possible, the entire clan should be able to decide who should appear on that “voting list”. All present administrators should also answer the small questionnaire; it’s time for them to assume their role and responsibilities. They should also be held accountable for the difficulties we are experiencing right now. If they cannot do that, they should eider move aside to let other take their place or elect a leader that will be able to set the course properly. We, as the doctors patients, have to understand that the reason were so unhealthy right now is that we have been eating way to much spam.

The right decisions were and are not being made right now, we went from over 120+ members to only 30 active members, I'm sure we can all agree that’s pretty disastrous. We are suffering from lack of sound decisions. Were in bad shape and we all have to realise it, if we don’t fix KCA, it it’s going down. Talks about changing name were already under ways, that’s how far we are now.

So let's be honest here for a minute, there is a problem in the leading structure and it must now be address, can we sincerely say that topics are flowing in, interesting and dynamic? Do you really think that new members will come in and say "Wow what a great forum!” Did we find another common appealing interest? The answers are no.

The clan is sick and we need good doctors to get cured, and the patients need to start eating healthy!

I don't see the problem of having only 30-40 active members as this will cause every1 to know each other better, today I think I could say something about all the active members andisn't that a good thing. If we cant keep eachothers interrest up, and i think the best way to do that is by knowing each other and making topics/events/funzys that's appealing to everyone.

If we can't keep the interrest up people will leave and that have happened in the past. It's not the current membefs fault that others leave, it's gheir own fault as they can't socialise with us and therefor they think that it's boring here.

Most clans keep their numbers pretty low of members as they will get to know each other then. If they have fun there ghey'll tell ther friends to join and so on Smile

As for admins posting 3 topics a week is bullshit! This might lead to useless boring topics when they run out of ideas. They might do it the 2-3 first weeks, but then it's stop.

Will update when I come home from vacation, but I think u get mah point.

Re: Regarding the criteria of Administrators.

Post by Chimpie on Mon Aug 06, 2012 8:12 pm

Well yh we never rlly had 120 active members I believe. The biggest part hopped on this site once a week to place a single post in their life here. The main core primarily existed of a constant 30-40 ppl. So therefor I think question 4 isn't entirely correct. We just made a sweep through the ppl that weren't active and deleted those, therefor we went from a clan of 120+ members of which 30-40 were active, to a clan of 80 ppl of which the same ppl are active. Therefor we didn't rlly lose any active members I'd say.

Furthermore I've to agree with Dino that that topicquota is counterproductive. Ofcourse topics should be made, but putting up such a high quota is plain crazy. I dunno bout you, but I can't think of a useful new topic every day, nor 3 in a week. Does that really make me a bad admin? I personally doubt it. A clan isn't made by the admins, it's managed by the admins but made by the entire group. The admins aren't simply clowns to entertain the group with their topics.

A clan has to have input from inside as well, a clan is build together and everyone contributes to the overall site experience. Therefor I'd say if the admins would get a 3 topic quota a week, the rest should at least get a 2 topic quota, wonder how much ppl see that as something they'd like....

Besides I think your:
"All present administrators should also answer the small questionnaire; it’s time for them to assume their role and responsibilities. They should also be held accountable for the difficulties we are experiencing right now. If they cannot do that, they should eider move aside to let other take their place or elect a leader that will be able to set the course properly. We, as the doctors patients, have to understand that the reason were so unhealthy right now is that we have been eating way to much spam."
is kinda wrong stated as well. No offense to you, but as you stated in the beginning I will also say my opinion on this matter. I think it's easy to hop out of the clan, get back after quite a long while and say that the admins went wrong. You've no idea about what has happened in the meantime, nor what anyone has done.
Also I see you state that "the patient" has been eating too much spam, yet you think a solution to the problem could be putting up a 3 topic a week quota.....?

For your questionaire:

1: B
2: Not sure what u mean. I read it as "how would u make the forum work again". And I currently don't see any "forum" issues.
3: We gotta get ourselfs out there and the clan (not just some ppl in charge) would've to think about what it wants. We won't get that many ppl if we are all scattered over lots of games, since no one will join a gaming clan when just a few play his game. Therefor we should either bring ourselfs to the public as a growing multigamingclan, or focus on the recruiting of ppl for one game. But then again such decissions which are clan changing should not be made by just admins.
4: As I showed earlier I don't think this question is legit and therefor I'll stick to what I've told about it earlier.
5: Won't answer this either the way you intended since I think a clan of the size of your goal (100+ members) can't be run by one person. Therefor in this context I'd say noone here is capable of running this clan alone. A leader has to have a discussionpanel ready to filter the wrong ideas out, refine the good ideas, bring em to the rest of the clan, and execute them. This responsibility should not lay on the shoulders of one persons.

Long text, but as soon as firework is brought in, I'd like to add more fireworks to the show.

Eirik and Chimpie brought up already all my opinions.

As said, Admins don't make the community, they are more like members who try to fix problems in a fair way.
Also being just a 30-40ppl community is not either a problem in my opinion. We know each other quite well already and have our own inside jokes etc. More people wouldnt be a harm tho.

Need to think about this further on today and will edit this post then.

This is interesting; we get two different opinions from the Clan/Forum. Some want a big community and other want to keep it smaller to keep it friendlier.

I’m not saying to make empty topics here, if there is nothing to say, you say nothing. But I think an effort from administrator should be made to add a bit of interesting content. It doesn’t always have to do with chatting about random topics.

Whatever people decide big community or small, I’m in.

Rude and direct can be confused.

Finally someone who can control is emotions. Cyber you should have been selected as an admin.
RedSlaya I’m ready to give you my vote now, I vote for Cyber.

I will now back down and take care of KCA Inc now like I told you I would Slaya.
No point of continuing the discussion I started I got what I wanted and I won’t pursue any of them now.

For those of you who failed my test, well there is always place for improvement. What I said about met and me forget it, it gose to the garbages.

Slaya and Cyber I will give you 10% of KCA Inc. if I manage to generate profit with it.

Guys, we all need to calm the fuck down.

Tom was simply doing what he thought was best for the clan, making the staff question themsleves, how they work, and what they can do. While you and I may not agree with how he did it, yesterday was the firsttime EVER the admins got together on an xfire chatroom and talked as a unit, i liked it. So please guys, all this hate is senseless. Tom was simply trying to make us think.

Re: Regarding the criteria of Administrators.

Post by Cesar <3 on Wed Aug 08, 2012 12:53 am

I changed the title because the previous one was kinda misleading.

If anyone thinks I shouldn't start this again, I'll just pull the card Tom has been using the whole time to get what he wants, and say that I'm just expressing my opinion which I have the right to do.

Saying that I'm attacking you when you feel offended, but you're just being direct when you're offending anyone else is pure bullshit. Well, rude and direct can easily be confused. Oh, you said sorry to Chimpie? Well I'm deeply sorry if I said anything to offend you. Now we can move on and forget everything that's been said!

Stats do not mean anything at all. And they lose even more meaning when you spam 3 posts in a row instead of editing your post.

Reaper wants to start a KCA Rap for the clan. That's great, but then you nominate him for admin even though you don't know him or anything about his past. Then Cyber says something where he clearly agrees with what everyone else have been saying, but he kept it modest, so now he's the one who deserve to be an admin? Oh you're gonna give everyone who you like or agrees with you 10% of the profits? Awesome. First you say it's gonna be a clan business, but then it's only the people you like who get anything from it. What a fair, professional and non-emotional way to handle all this!

rT said "you complain about 'spam' such as the word association game or 3 word story, and yet you don't feel the need to keep all your thoughts in one post. It makes the topic slightly harder to read and also skews the statistics you talk about. If it continues I may warn you."
That is NOT admin abuse. You ARE spamming posts 3 times in a row instead of just putting it all in one post and that IS against the KCA rules. Of course he has the right to warn you if that continues.

Great idea to "test" the clan by making everyone upset. I sure hope I failed the test, cause if you ask questions and everyone who agrees with you "pass" the test, I wouldn't want to be part of them.

Sorry for the double post, (edit: red b a ninja, Very Happy )but I just had time to read this entire thread and the "Response to Chimpie" thread.

Holy hell at all the drama.

This was posted by Red in my "What's up people???" thread, my first day back here.
Redslaya wrote:•Met left

•we now accept members from LoL and Bf3 as well as bfh
•site design changed 30 times
•we have 1 bfh server, expires on august 4th
•we got a mumble server

The bolded part is what stood out to me the most. Which wasn't a surprise because when I was here last hardly anyone was playing BFH anymore and that game was the backbone of KCA.

Let me first say that I have nothing to gain or lose here. I'm not joining the clan again for gaming, I don't want in on KCA Inc.(which taking someone else's idea (KCA) and attempting to make a profit on it is questionable ethics within itself, but I don't really know what all is going on with that so maybe there's something I don't know about.) I'm only here because of the friends I made starting back in 2009 when I joined in with Met and sn1p3me. That said, I have to ask you Tom... what's the point? I'm not trying to be a smartass.. I'm honestly wondering what is your motive behind all of this.

edit 2: Another thing... You've always put a ton of emphases on the forum stats. I understand that to a certain extent, but if you are wanting KCA to get back to where it was 2 years ago, the activty of this forum isn't what you need to be worrying about. Finding a game that everyone here can enjoy together would be my number one priority. KCA was a great clan because there was a ton of people playing BFH. We all had a blast in our duals and just random matches in our server. Activity in-game, whatever game that may be, is what will get this forum to popping again.

Edit: Cesar made me pussy out

I totally agree with Zweg, it's just a community where players around the world (mostly Europe and USA) come and play together chatting with each other, playing and just having a good time

I think the admins are doing a good job, can't see anything that could be much atm.
Maybe a competivite lol team, but that's not their job, but if it was! Then it would be stronk!

I went through a divorce back in last part of 09 into 2010 and to fill my spare time I turned to gaming, which brought me to BFH and then KCA. KCA was a big part of my life. I put a ton of time into helping Met and sn1p3me get all of this started, paid for game servers, ect.... I would hate to see this place die out because of disagreements and what not.

Yeah, I should have worded that differently. Not necessarily die out, but you get the point.

Clarifications

I will not disuse what or how things were said, nor if it was right or wrong. You have a right to be angry at me and I won’t blame you. It is said that nothing says sorry better that money, so SORRY for all the comotion + I will make some event with prizes here and there for the clan. It’s time to put the beast to rest. I will tell you what I really think about the tools I use to make my story believable as to make sure there is no confusion.

Statistics should be used to verify who is active or not, what topics are interesting or not, were do people come from, so on and so on. I don’t think it’s there to judge people, because there is more to them then just plain numbers.

Topics should be used as much as you want, as long as there is something to be said. I do think an effort should be made to make them somewhat appealing and clean. I start a lot just because I like it!

Admins & moderators, if a prick starts push all your buttons don’t lose it, and don’t move to quick. Look at what REDSLAYA did, he was flawless (loved the” /reserved…” Slaya it made me feel like I was about the get grounded by my parents lol)! Then when you ready to make your move, show why you are in charge of KCA. Use your knife to slice and dice like a real surgeon, chimpie showed his great skill at knifing in the end.

I will put a lot of energy on KCA Inc. I will try to be here as much as I can, and show the progress I’m making. Like I said before not need to get involve at all, but you welcome to jump in and out when you feel like it.

I'm honestly wondering what is your motive behind all of this.

I somehow missed Slaya's post on the 2nd page. That's what I thought your motive was behind this post, but wasn't entirely sure.

Like I said, I know I haven't been around in a while, but I'd like to think I could still help out with any issues so if you guys would like my input on anything at all just ask.
